I will persist until I succeed.

In the Orient young bulls are tested for the
fight arena in a certain manner. Each is brought to
the ring and allowed to attack a picador who pricks
them with a lance. The bravery of each bull is then
rated with care according to the number of times
he demonstrates his willingness to charge in spite
of the sting of the blade. Henceforth will I recognize that each day I am tested by life in like
manner. If I persist, if I continue to try, if I
continue to charge forward, I will succeed.

I will persist until I succeed.

I was not delivered unto this world in defeat,
nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a
sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I
am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep
with the sheep. I will hear not those who weep
and complain, for their disease is contagious. Let
them join the sheep. The slaughterhouse of failure
is not my destiny.

I will persist until I succeed.

The prizes of life are at the end of each journey,
not near the beginning; and it is not given to me to
know how many steps are necessary in order to
reach my goal. Failure I may still encounter at the
thousandth step, yet success hides behind the next
bend in the road. Never will I know how close it
lies unless I turn the corner.

Always will I take another step. If that is of no
avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth,
one step at a time is not too difficult.

I will persist until I succeed.

Henceforth, I will consider each day’s effort as
but one blow of my blade against a mighty oak.
The first blow may cause not a tremor in the wood,
nor the second, nor the third. Each blow, of itself,
may be trifling, and seem of no consequence. Yet
from childish swipes the oak will eventually tum-
ble. So it will be with my efforts of today.

I will be liken to the rain drop which washes
away the mountain; the ant who devours a tiger;
the star which brightens the earth; the slave who
builds a pyramid. I will build my castle one brick
at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated,
will complete any undertaking.

I will persist until I succeed.

I will never consider defeat and I will remove
from my vocabulary such words and phrases as
quit, cannot, unable, impossible, out of the ques-
tion, improbable, failure, unworkable, hopeless,
and retreat; for they are the words of fools. I will
avoid despair but if this disease of the mind should
infect me then I will work on in despair. I will toil
and I will endure. I will ignore the obstacles at my
feet and keep mine eyes on the goals above my
head, for I know that where dry desert ends, green
grass grows.

I will persist until I succeed.

I will remember the ancient law of averages
and I will bend it to my good. I will persist with
knowledge that each failure to sell will increase
my chance for success at the next attempt. Each
nay I hear will bring me closer to the sound of yea.
Each frown I meet only prepares me for the smile
to come. Each misfortune I encounter will carry in
it the seed of tomorrow’s good luck. I must have
the night to appreciate the day. I must fail often to
succeed only once.

I will persist until I succeed.

I will try, and try, and try again. Each obstacle
I will consider as a mere detour to my goal and a
challenge to my profession. I will persist and develop my skills as the mariner develops his, by
learning to ride out the wrath of each storm.

I will persist until I succeed.

Henceforth, I will learn and apply another secret
of those who excel in my work. When each day is
ended, not regarding whether it has been a success
or a failure, I will attempt to achieve one more
sale. When my thoughts beckon my tired body
homeward I will resist the temptation to depart. I
will try again. I will make one more attempt to
close with victory, and if that fails I will make an-
other. Never will I allow any day to end with a
failure. Thus will I plant the seed of tomorrow’s
success and gain an insurmountable advantage
over those who cease their labor at a prescribed
time. When others cease their struggle, then mine
will begin, and my harvest will be full.

I will persist until I succeed.

Nor will I allow yesterday’s success to lull me
into today’s complacency, for this is the great
foundation of failure. I will forget the happenings
of the day that is gone, whether they were good or
bad, and greet the new sun with confidence that
this will be the best day of my life.

So long as there is breath in me, that long will
I persist. For now I know one of the greatest prin-
ciples of success; if I persist long enough I will win.

I will persist.

I will win.

How to Guarantee a GREAT Day, Every Day
Author: Chris Widener

Every Monday morning I have a standing radio interview I enjoy very much. But you can imagine that it can become routine. To prevent this, the host doesn’t tell me the topic before we go live on the air—now that puts some excitement into it!

This week, he asked me: How can a person guarantee that they will have a great day, every day? Some may find that hard to answer, but for me it was easy. You see, I believe we can control our destinies and create for ourselves the kind of lives we desire. People who live based on these principles achieve what they desire, while people who live reacting to circumstances do not.

Here are the principles for having a GREAT day every day:

Focus on today only.
Yes, long-range goals are important. But our focus must be on today. My equation is that your short-term tasks, multiplied by time, equal your long-term accomplishments. With that in mind, it’s imperative that we focus on short-term because, when multiplied by time, it will eventually equal our long-term goals. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Make today the best day you have ever had. Realize that when you lay down to sleep tonight you will have just given up the only shot you will ever have at today. You only get one shot at your today, so focus intently on making it all that it possibly can be. Focus, focus, focus! When you focus on making today great, you are helping guarantee that you will make your day GREAT, every day!

Embrace your power to choose.
Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “The history of free men is never written by chance but by choice—their choice.” When your today becomes your yesterday, you will look back and realize that day was a result of your choices. “But wait Chris, what if my boss controlled my day? That isn’t my choice!” you might say. But it is your choice to work for someone else. You chose to let someone else tell you what to do. But you can control your own destiny. The moment we realize that we can exercise a powerful gift from God, namely the gift of free will and choice, is when we begin to create for ourselves a GREAT day each and every day! Take ownership of the direction of your life. Make your choices and carry them out!

Your attitude is up to you.
Yes, bad things may happen in your day. The pitcher for “Team Circumstances” may have a tremendous curveball waiting for you, and you cannot control that. You cannot control what others may do or say. But you can control your attitude. Your attitude about whatever happens to you is up to you.
When something happens to you, you have the choice: Will you let it get you down and depressed, keeping you from forging ahead and making the day the best one ever? Or will you say to yourself that, no matter what happens, you are on the path to success and no obstacle will keep you from it? Will you say, “Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose—I guess this time I lost”? Will you say, “Sometimes you win and sometimes you learn—I can really learn something from this!”?

It is all in what attitude you choose. Your attitude is up to you, and when you choose to have a great attitude, you are choosing to guarantee to have a GREAT day, every day!

Live out and act on your priorities.
So far, we have dealt with internal perspectives, and that is indeed the place to start. But the practical place is in our priorities. If we want to make our days great, then we have to live out those things that will by definition make our days great. And those things are what are important to us. They are our priorities.

So each morning, start out by asking, “What things are important to me today? What are the things I need to accomplish in order for me to lay down tonight and know that I lived a GREAT day?” Then put those in order of most important to least important.

Don’t do what is fun. Don’t do what is easy. Do what is IMPORTANT! Live out your priorities. When you do, you will guarantee that you will make your day GREAT, every day!

Tomorrow, when you wake up, go through the four following points and see if you don’t make tomorrow a GREAT day:

Focus on today only.
Understand that I get to choose how today will go.
Remain in a positive attitude no matter what happens.
Live out and act on my priorities.
Do this, and you will guarantee a GREAT day, every day.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so
that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other
people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.’

Recently I watched a video from Dr. Gary Smalley and Dr. John Trent that describes our human personality types. They base these personalities around animal characteristics. We each have one of these as a our dominant personality type and another one as our non dominant personality type. Since watching the video I often find myself saying “that person is sure behaving like a beaver”. So, what are these personality types:

Lion (Choleric/Dominance)
Strengths– Visionary, practical, productive, strong-willed, independent, decisive, leader
Weaknesses– Cold, domineering, unemotional self-sufficient, unforgiving, sarcastic, cruel

Otter (Sanguine/Influence)
Strengths– Outgoing, responsive, warm, friendly, talkative, enthusiastic, compassionate
Weaknesses– Undisciplined, unproductive, exaggerates, egocentric, unstable

Golden Retriever (Phlegmatic/Steadiness)
Strengths– Calm, easy-going, dependable, quiet, objective, diplomatic, humorous
Weaknesses– Selfish, stingy, procrastinator, unmotivated, indecisive, fearful, worrier

Beaver (Melancholy/Compliance)
Strengths– Analytical, self-disciplined, industrious, organized, aesthetic, sacrificing
Weaknesses– Moody, self-centered, touchy, negative, unsociable, critical, revengeful

Take a moment to think about your personality type.
Which one do you think describes you the most?

Why is this information valuable:
I find that when I get upset with someone for behaving a certain way (rude for example), I tell myself that they are behaving that way because that is their personality type (Lion). They may not even be aware of what they are doing, they are just reacting based on their personality type. Many people just react. They do not stop to think before they react. They react based on what feels right for their personality type.

So, knowing that these different personality types exist, can help you deal effectively with many different people. This knowledge allows you to not take someone else’s behavior personally because you know they are just reacting based on their personality type
and it has nothing to do with you!

I recently received an email from James Ray, one of the teachers from The Secret.
I found it very helpful. I wanted to share it with you all.
Read below.

What is it that separates the highly successful individual from the average or even successful individual? Why is it that one person seems to achieve extraordinary results on a consistent basis and another, with nearly the same training, hits and misses their accomplishments?

The success technique to which I am referring is visualization. I guarantee that “visualizing your results is the key to realizing your results.” Visualizing is one of the most important techniques you will ever learn and one that is utilized by all high performers.

Visualizing is your key to success for two reasons: Your mind thinks in pictures and images; Your unconscious mind drives your behavior.

Your unconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between something that is real and something vividly imagined. Whatever picture (goal) you consistently think about will drive your actions to create that exact picture. When you continually see yourself in possession of your goal, your unconscious mind will move you into actions that align with the mental image you hold.

Here’s a quick visualization overview to assure your goal achievement:

Lots of success programs tell you what to do, but only the Harmonic Wealth Weekend shows you how to think and create the life you really want…

    * Create a clear mental picture. You must associate a picture to your goal. You should picture yourself in your vision, rather than watching yourself achieve your goal. This “fine point” separates the masters from the masses. You must create a picture that is so real you believe you already have achieved your success.
* You must “experience” your vision. You must be in your picture, looking through your own eyes… seeing, hearing and feeling everything as if you have already achieved your goal. You must create the emotion of the moment in your own body.
* Visualize your goal at every opportunity. Bring up your mental picture while waiting at a stop light, when you’re on a break, before your next meeting. The more frequently you plant your picture into your unconscious mind, the more rapidly you will begin to realize increased results in your life.
* Visualize first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The best time to visualize is in the morning right after you wake up and just before you go to sleep. These are the times when your unconscious mind is most open to influence. When your conscious mind relaxes, your unconscious becomes very receptive to your thoughts, dreams and ideas–particularly ideas with high emotion.

So make a commitment right now to create your picture of achieving your goal. All great masters have taught that we become what we constantly think about. Think about your goals to the exclusion of all else and watch your personal and professional results skyrocket!

I received this wonder email from Bill Harris. He is offering 9 FREE online classes.
Read the email below and sign up for the FREE classes.

I’d like to invite you to experience, as my gift to you, a
FREE online course I’ve created…Mastering Eckhart
Tolle’s The Power of Now.

So many people have told me that they loved Eckhart
Tolle’s books (The Power of Now and A New Earth)
and his online presentations with Oprah, but have had
trouble actually PRACTICING (and in some cases,
understanding) what Tolle talks about.

To solve that problem, I decided to get together several
of the most amazing awakened teachers I know to help
you understand what Tolle is talking about and help you
begin practicing and embodying what he is teaching,
right now.

In this FREE course (which you can share with as many
people as you want), six world-famous spiritual teachers
and I will discuss what you can do right now to experience
the spiritual awakening described by Eckhart Tolle in The
Power of Now, A New Earth, and his online lessons with
Oprah.

I’ve chosen teachers who I know embody the awareness
Tolle is talking about, and who are masters at teaching it:

    * Zen master Genpo Roshi, creator of the Big Mind
process, a method for quickly experiencing profound
transcendent states of awareness (what Tolle calls
Presence) usually taking decades to master…
* Ken Wilber, world-famous philosopher, author,
spiritual teacher, and founder of Integral Institute,
Integral Life, and the Integral Spiritual Center…
* Renowned spiritual teacher and meditation master,
Diane Hamilton…
* Enlightenment teachers, authors, and workshop leaders,
Saniel Bonder and Linda Groves-Bonder…
* Sally Kempton, Yoga Journal columnist and one
of today’s most insightful and experienced teachers
of meditation and spiritual growth…
* And me!

Among the many things you’ll learn from these amazing teachers:

    * The transformational power of the Now and
how you can experience it…
* Gettting out of your mind and into the Now…
* What Eckhart Tolle calls Presence, and how
to access it…
* Using your body to enter the Now…
* The source of suffering and emotional pain,
and how to end it…
* Transforming fear into peace…
* Why Time is an illusion, and how it keeps
you from the Now…
* How you can step out of the world of Problems….
* How to free yourself from unhappiness…
* The power of Now and relationships…
* Finding your purpose…
* Plus, keys to awakening Eckhart Tolle didn’t
mention…
* And much more.

You’ll enjoy six weekly 60 to 90 minute audio lessons,
one each week for six weeks. Each lesson is an unedited
and spontaneous conversation with me and a world-famous
spiritual teacher who embodies and teaches the awakened
spiritual awareness Eckhart Tolle discusses in his best-selling
books, The Power of Now and A New Earth, and in his
online lessons with Oprah Winfrey.

These lessons contain additional explanation and practical
suggestions you can use right now to awaken to who
you really are and create a life of happiness and inner peace.

I thought I’d have to charge a significant amount of money
for this course, but when the other teachers volunteered
their time and expertise, I quickly changed my mind.
Oprah has put an enlightened teacher on television in
front of millions of people. This is a hugely positive event
in the history of the world.

A way of living that, up to now, has been discussed in
just a few subcultures such as Integral Institute, Centerpointe,
and a few other communities, is now in full view of popular
culture.

This is a huge opportunity for the world–and for you.

I want as many people as possible to experience this
information, so I–and the other teachers–are giving
this information away, as our gift to
the world.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to bring The Power
of Now into your life. Register for these lessons right away.

You can download them to your iPod or other device, or
listen online. You’ll also get a handsome transcript of each
lesson making it easier to review and master the information
it contains.

As you’ll soon discover, this course is unlike anything else
you’ve ever experienced. You really can live from the
place Tolle talks about–the Now moment. When you
do, everything changes.

With these six amazing awakened teachers, I want to
show you how.

To enroll, and to immediately begin experiencing your
first lesson–again, at no charge whatsoever, as our gift
to you–just go to: www.MasteringThePowerOfNow.com.

And please tell EVERYONE you know about this course.
Open your address book and send this email to everyone.
This is something we really want to spread around the world.

Be well.

Bill

I recently received this wonderful email from Janet QAtwood, author of The Passion Test.
I really enjoyed read it plus it made me question how I view my life.

Here is the email, read it for yourself. Enjoy

“What is enlightenment and does it have practical value
for people living in the world?” This is one of the
questions I asked again and again as I traveled throughout
India and Nepal interviewing revered Masters.

I’ll share what they said later in this email, but first,
let’s talk about you.

If you were to rate the quality of your life on a scale of
1-10, would it be a 10? Whatever that number is, have you
thought about what has gone into making it that good?

Most of us have grown up in an environment which has
trained us to focus on our problems, our mistakes, the
things that are wrong. The idea is that if we really
understand what we did wrong, then we can fix it and
improve.

But today there is much evidence that trying to fix your
problems is not nearly as effective in improving performance
as doing more of what you do well.

When Chris and I were partners with Mark Victor Hansen
and Robert Allen in creating the Enlightened Millionaire
Program, they told us about a study that was done of
two teams of bowlers.

Both teams bowled a game and were videotaped. The
video footage for the first team was edited to just show
their mistakes. They were told to study the video and
work on improving their game by correcting the mistakes.

The video footage for the second team was edited to just
show the things they did when they bowled strikes, in other
words when they did well. That team was told to study the
video and work on improving their game by repeating what
they did well.

Both teams were then asked to bowl again and both teams
improved. But the improvement of the second team was
far greater than that of the first.

If you rate the quality of your life on a scale of 1-10,
what score would you give it? Whatever that score is, try
taking a little time to think about what makes it as good
as it is.

If you give it a 6, then what makes it a 6 rather than a
5 or a 4? Then begin doing more of the things that are making
it as good as it already is. Ask yourself what would be the
first small signs that your satisfaction and enjoyment of
life are improving. This will give you a measuring stick to
notice when things get better.

Changing your focus from what is wrong with your life to
what is working well and doing more of that can have a
huge impact on how much you enjoy this life.

Enlightenment is a state of living life at a 10, and even
well beyond a 10. It is a state of complete freedom.

That’s right. No worries about money. No figuring out how
to get out of debt. No wondering how you will ever find
your soul mate. No going crazy with worry, anxiety or
frustration.

As I sat with many Masters revered for their wisdom and
asked this question, they told me the same thing in many
different words: Enlightenment is that state of complete
contentment, a state where the mind and heart are fully at
peace.

It is a state in which one is fully present in this moment,
a state in which one sees the divine in everyone, in every
thing, in every experience. There is no good or bad, because
it is all the divine, moving in the flow of life to lead
every part of life to the experience of the divine, to the
experience of its own essential nature.

It is in that experience of the divine that freedom lies.

In the ancient texts of India, there are many techniques and
methods suggested to assist in realizing one’s true Self and
experiencing this state of enlightenment.

But there is one thing that is said to be key, in every system
and every tradition, and that thing is to spend time with the
enlightened. As one spends time with those who are living
this state, it begins to rub off on you.

Knowing this was just one of the inspirations for my passion
to seek out and interview the enlightened. Listening to these
great sages also happens to be among the most fun and profound
experiences of my life.

I feel so honored and grateful that these great Masters allowed
me to videotape my interviews with them so that I can share
them with you.

I can’t wait for you to experience the wisdom that is part of the
Dialogues with the Masters. This DVD and CD package is a
treasure house of knowledge as well as a taste of what is
possible when you follow your passions.

Your passions are like breadcrumbs leading you on to discover
your own true nature and fulfill your purpose in life. As Chris
and I say in The Passion Test book, once you’ve used The Passion
Test to clarify your top five passions, there is one key that
guarantees a passionate life:

“Whenever you are faced with a decision, a choice, or an
opportunity, choose in favor of your passions.”

I hope you will ask yourself if moving closer to enlightenment
will help you live your passions more fully. If so, please
accept my invitation to get the Dialogues with the Masters
package and let the wisdom of the enlightened rub off on you.

http://www.thepassiontest.com/hwnwdm

With all my appreciation,

Act In Spite of Your Mood
“I don’t ‘feel’ like it”, is a common chant we often say to ourselves or to others when we’re tired, not in the mood, or simply procrastinating. No doubt feelings are important and need to be acknowledged, yet at the same time, they often prevent us from taking the action we need to take, at the time we need to take it. Consequently, in the end, because we didn’t do what we needed to do, we tend to feel worse.

It takes courage to act regardless of your current mood. It’s easy to succumb to your feelings. But remember, your feelings come from your thoughts, and you have the power to change your thoughts. When you change your thoughts, you will change the way you feel. Instead of focusing on how you’re not in the mood, focus on the benefit of completing whatever needs to get done. Focus on how you’ll feel when you’re finished and how proud you’ll be of yourself for acting in spite of not being in the perfect mood.

Utilize the “law of momentum” which states that, “A body at rest tends to remain at rest while a body in motion tends to remain in motion”. In short, get into motion! Remember, moods are a product of the “mind”. The trick is simple: don’t think, just do it! Train yourself to “get started” even if you’re not in the mood. Moods tend to quickly dissipate once you’re in action.

Whenever you don’t “feel” like it, check in with your current thoughts. What are you thinking that is resulting in this feeling? Then simply change your thoughts. Remember, action generally comes from your higher self, the part of you that is for growth and expansion. Inaction generally comes from your protective mind, the part of you that tries to keep you stuck in your comfort zone. When you act in spite of your mood, you are choosing to manage and control your mind instead of letting it control you!

So the next time you’re not feeling “in the mood”, either change your thinking or simply say to your mind, “thank you for sharing”. Then focus on only taking the very first step to get started, then take another, and another. One step at a time until the law of momentum kicks in. By then, chances are you’ll forget all about not being “in the mood”, and will be well on your way to completing whatever it was you needed to do…and feeling great about it!

Every new year we make resolutions to get healthier. Well, the new year is here. What are you doing? Did you join some expensive gym, only to stop going but keep paying the fees?

Here is one on my solutions (if you live in the NYC area):

Last week I attended a dance aerobic session at Rochdale Village Community Center Ballroom in Queens NY. The dance aerobics was presented by Body By Denise

Body by Denise is an intense, yet fun-filled, group fitness class for men
and women eighteen years and older regardless of size, shape, or ability.

This class offers a 20-30 minute muscle conditioning warm-up, followed by a
60-90 minute low impact, high energy house hip-hop aerobic dance class.
The steps are geared to work every major muscle group in the body with
simple, yet funky moves that will keep your body, mind and spirit energized
throughout the entire routine. It is definitely challenging from the beginning
to the end, but not impossible, if you pace yourself.

This class is designed to give a well-rounded workout to the community
with the same flavor as a health club. This two hour workout will give your
body everything that is needed for muscle strengthening, aerobic conditioning,
stamina, and most importantly weight loss.

In addition to all of the great health benefits, access to this class will not break your bank. Each class is only $7.00 per session. That price is way lower than most gyms.

Click on the link below for more information:
BodyByDenise.com

So, no more excuse that you can’t afford it.

I am from New York City, the melting pot of the United States. It is filled with people from all over the world. It is a wonderful place to learn about other cultures. However, you do not need to be in New York to learn about other cultures. There is tons of culture on the internet and maybe right under your nose as well.

Many people grow up with the belief that they should do only the things that fit in with their cultural norms, such as listening only to certain music, eating only certain foods and dressing a certain way. The youth in the United States is one example. Some of them think that they should only listen to rap and hip, they should eat pizza and hamburger and dress with their pants hanging low. Now, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with that. I am just saying, that is not the only way to be.

There is an enormous world out there filled with all sorts of music, food and styles of dressing etc. Don’t limit yourself to only what you already know. Be open minded and willing to try new things. You never know what you might learn.

I used to think that Indian food was not tasty, without ever trying it. I just formed that opinion based on no evidence what so ever. However, one day I tried it and I loved it. It was very delicious. I am glad I gave it a chance. I have also discovered a love for Indian music. I really enjoy listening to it.

I wanted to share an Indian song that I enjoy listening to. I hope you enjoy it.

PS: This is your cultural experience for the day.

Have you ever had a goal you were working on that just seemed so big. It felt as thought it was a mountain? Well, I am working on one of those types of goals right now. I sometimes feel as thought I am standing at the bottom of a mountain looking up. From that view point, it can feel quite scary. It can feel quite overwhelming. So, what do you do?

Well, you do 2 things.
Firstly, you ask yourself “am I committed to doing this?”

If the answer is yes, then you begin the second step.
Take action. Yes, I know this step can be scary. But if you really want it, then you will have to begin moving.Put one foot in front of the other and start moving. One step at a time. That’s all it takes, one step at a time.

The steps must be consistent. If you stop moving, then you stay where you are. You will no longer be moving towards the top. You will be stuck. The trick is to take one step at a time consistently! Your steps must be consistent. Taking a step here and there will only take you longer.

So, to reach the top you must be committed, take one step at time and take consistent steps. If you do these things, you will reach the top.

Check out our upcoming post for easy strategies to getting to the top.

See you at the top!
