I am from New York City, the melting pot of the United States. It is filled with people from all over the world. It is a wonderful place to learn about other cultures. However, you do not need to be in New York to learn about other cultures. There is tons of culture on the internet and maybe right under your nose as well.

Many people grow up with the belief that they should do only the things that fit in with their cultural norms, such as listening only to certain music, eating only certain foods and dressing a certain way. The youth in the United States is one example. Some of them think that they should only listen to rap and hip, they should eat pizza and hamburger and dress with their pants hanging low. Now, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with that. I am just saying, that is not the only way to be.

There is an enormous world out there filled with all sorts of music, food and styles of dressing etc. Don’t limit yourself to only what you already know. Be open minded and willing to try new things. You never know what you might learn.

I used to think that Indian food was not tasty, without ever trying it. I just formed that opinion based on no evidence what so ever. However, one day I tried it and I loved it. It was very delicious. I am glad I gave it a chance. I have also discovered a love for Indian music. I really enjoy listening to it.

I wanted to share an Indian song that I enjoy listening to. I hope you enjoy it.

PS: This is your cultural experience for the day.
